Will freezing skin tags with dry ice get rid of it?

Millions of people around the world will be dealing with tags that form on the top of the dermis. Skin tags in general are nothing to be afraid of, and will not pose much of an issue overall. They are benign growths that occur due to irritation. Whenever skin rubs against itself, even if it’s a natural occurrence, a small growth may form. This may seem like a wart or a zit, but it’s not going to pop or cause too much irritation. In some instances, this is a sign that you may have a deeper medical concern, but more often than not, it’s something that you don’t need to worry too much about.

Medical Causes Connected To Skin Tags

As mentioned above, you’ll find that there are a few things that could cause tags to form. For instance, you may be dealing with diabetes, obesity, pregnancy, HPV infection, allergic reaction, or rapid weight loss. Either way, whenever skin has friction within itself, you’ll find tags may form. As a result, you’re going to want to ensure that you remove them if you find them to be unappealing. These don’t hurt, they aren’t cancerous, and again, are mostly cosmetic in nature.

Freezing Skin Tags With Dry Ice

First and foremost, do not do this. Do not buy some dry ice or find it in a grocery store or ice cream shop and apply it to your skin. That is dangerous and can cause you to end up in a hospital. Dry ice should not be handled with your bare hands, it should not be used on bare skin, or anything like that.

To answer the initial question, however, yes you can use dry ice to get rid of skin tags. However, individuals are not to be using this method. A doctor can use this method, and it is usually called cryotherapy. However, they will not be using the same thing that you get in stores, and it will not cause burning or any other sensation that you may get when you touch the dry ice with bare skin. It’s a cold element that can be so cold it feels like a burn, but a doctor will do this properly and prevent such a thing from occurring.

Will Skin Tags Come Back?

In many instances, they will come back. Skin tags don’t just go away and never return. There ar several reasons why this may occur, however. It’s important to ask your doctor to figure out the root cause of the tags to begin with. For some individuals, the return may signal a hormonal imbalance, and may be a matter of HPV infection, or many other issues overall. If you don’t think that you have a deeper medical concern, then you can have these removed, and they may not come back. However, as noted above, if there are folds, creases, or any change in skin irritation, you may see these come up and outside of the skin cells. Growths are normal, so don’t panic, just visit a physician if you want to go the dry ice route.
