Why do I have skin tags popping up?

The skin of men, women, and children can become inflamed. Many people deal with this by scratching, or applying a topical cream to ease the issue. Rashes, and other elements can spread on the skin and cause further damage, and pain, but there are some issues that may seem a bit less invasive. For instance, you may find that you have small growths coming off the skin. These are known as skin tags. These can form for a number of reasons, and while they are mostly benign, they can be unsightly, and in some rare cases be a sign of a bigger issue. To fully understand why this may be occurring, you first need to understand what they are, and what may be causing them on your body.

The Root of The Issue

First and foremost, you need to know that tags are not cancerous, and are most likely benign. They appear across the body, and for several different reasons. You may find them under your arms, underneath folds of skin, at the waistline, eyelids, or just about any place where the skin folds, creases, or rubs against another bit of skin. When this occurs, the cell membranes push out a small overgrowth that may look like a zit, but does not have a center or release puss.

The root cause of this problem can be attributed to simple elements, such as skin rubbing against another layer of skin. However, it may also be an indication that you are dealing with a serious ailment. For instance, those that are obese, have diabetes, use steroids, or have HPV are at risk of developing these more frequently. Heredity, allergic reaction, and pregnancy are also culprits that can cause skin tags as well. While these issues are common, it’s important to realize that most often, tags are not an indication of a serious ailment.

When To Call The Doctor

In most instances, you will not need to call a doctor to help you with skin tag formation. In fact, you’ll find that the majority of individuals that have these develop, will only need to look for topical solutions. However, there are times when it’s important to ask for help. Seeking assistance from a dermatologist is key to getting the right diagnosis, and medication. You should call a doctor when there is bleeding, pain, and many clusters of tags forming around the anus and genitals. This could be an indicator that you have a serious ailment, or an adverse reaction to an irritant.

In many cases, tags are not serious, and do not form due to ailments that are harsh. If you have a tag forming, you can use essential oils, topical hemorrhoid cream, and even prescription solutions to get rid of them. By drying out the area, and allowing the topical solutions penetrate the dermis, you can see a reversal of the issue, and overall get a handle on this skin irregularity. Again, most often, these are benign, and don’t require the assistance of a medical professional. However, if they persist, are painful, or come with discharge, you may need help.
